On April 29th 2004 Sir Richard Branson visited the Pendolino production line at Alstom's Washwood Heath factory. In a double event he travelled by Super Voyager 221105 from Reading to Birmingham to celebrate the launch of tilting trains on XC services.
The visit to Washwood Heath was to mark the fact that 390053, the last Pendolino, had begun it's journey along the production line. Sir Richard paid tribute to the Alstom workers at the factory, which closed in August once the order for Pendolinos had been completed.
Here's a selection of pictures from the day.
