Looking South towards the Midland Rly line. All the bridges on this section have been demolished, leaving gaps like this.
The joint line closed to regular passenger traffic on December 5th 1953 although it remained open for holiday excursion & freight. The last excursions ran in September 1962. Freight traffic was withdrawn on the 29th May 1964 when the line closed completely. The track was lifted soon after.
