The c2c franchise began life as LTS Rail on the 26th May 1996. It was rebranded c2c in May 2000. The franchise has had three owners in its life. Prism Rail until July 2000, when they were bought by National Express. In February 2017 Natex sold the franchise to Trenitalia. The management contract will run until 10th November 2029.
