Class 142s have been a staple of local services for decades, but now they're living on borrowed time. Here, 142065 is about to cross the Gauxholme bridge over the Rochdale canal whilst working 2F87, the 1220 Blackburn to Wigan Wallgate via the Todmorden curve. The cast iron bowstring bridge is an impressive structure from the ground. It was built in 1840 by the Manchester and Leeds railway under the direction of George Stephenson.
